Black Friday and its associated holiday sales are some of the best times to buy a smartwatch, but many Android users don’t have the ultimate transition option for a smartwatch. In late 2021, these are the best smartwatches you can buy for almost any Android phone.
Best Overall: Samsung Galaxy Watch 4
While Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4 is definitely the best for Galaxy smartphones, it’s still the best smartwatch overall for any Android smartphone in 2021.
Available from $249 — and at relatively steep discounts on Black Friday — the Galaxy Watch 4 runs on top of the Google Wear OS platform, but the new version co-created with Samsung. The updated operating system brings the best of Samsung’s Tizen OS including the interface and specialized apps, but with the addition of access to some Google services like Maps, Play Store and Google Pay. Only Wear OS 3 is available on this smartwatch at the moment, and it offers better battery life, improved app performance, and more. Bixby is perhaps the biggest deal breaker in the program, with no assistant available.
Wear OS 3 makes the Galaxy Watch 4 a great smartwatch, but it’s Samsung’s health suite that makes it a powerful fitness device. Samsung Health allows users to track their steps, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep, and more, along with the ability to take an electrocardiogram and see body composition data, all from your wrist. Most of these features work with the watch paired with your Android phone, although the ECG is lost on non-Samsung devices.
Overall, it doesn’t really make sense to get a Galaxy Watch 4 for an Android phone. Right now, there is nothing that better accomplishes all these basic tasks while also being compatible with Android. The Galaxy Watch 4 is the Apple Watch from Android, at least for now.
The Galaxy Watch 4 comes in two models, a standard sport option and a design “classic” With a rotatable physical frame. Pricing for the Standard model starts at $249 — as low as $180 on Black Friday from retailers like Amazon — while the Classic model starts at $329. Sizes range from 40mm to 46mm.

Fitness Focus: Fitbit Versa 3 / Sense
If you primarily care about fitness from your smartwatch experience, the Google-owned Fitbit options will suit you nicely. Fitbit Versa 3 and Fitbit Sense offer killer battery life, stunning designs, excellent Android support, and one of the best fitness experiences on a smartwatch.
Starting with the fitness features, the Versa 3 and Sense are among the best Android smartwatches in 2021 because they hit all the right notes. Both Fitbit models can capture data about your heart rate, steps, sleep, and more. Everything is synced to the Fitbit app that can record your sleep, help you set and reach activity goals, and even help track calories and weight loss. While Samsung’s Health Suite can do a lot of this, Fitbit can integrate with other apps and products to give you a more comprehensive look at your health and activity. Plus, a Fitbit Premium subscription — which comes hourly free for six months — unlocks the app to more in-depth data, workouts, meditation sessions, and more. Fitbit Sense also adds ECG support.
As a smartwatch, Fitbit OS handles the basics just fine. You can get notifications from any app, use the Google Assistant, and choose apps. There are also plenty of watch wallpaper options on the Fitbit Store. However, you won’t get the same app support or features that a more personalized smartwatch would, as we mentioned in our review. These products support Fast Pair features with Android phones and can last up to five days on a single charge depending on how you use them.
From $229 for the Versa 3 and $299 for the Sense, Fitbit smartwatches are already some of the best watches for Android users who focus on their fitness more than anything else. Plus, we’ve seen discounts cut it down to about $180 on Black Friday, with up to $100 off.
Battery Life for Stellar Smart Watch: TicWatch Pro 3
If fitness can take a back seat to apps, the TicWatch Pro 3 is a solid choice for long battery life. Where the Galaxy Watch 4 generally lasts less than two days, and even less with the Always On option enabled, Mobvoi’s TicWatch Pro 3 can easily last two to four days depending on usage in our tests.
TicWatch has that endurance, thanks to its dual-layer smart display. There’s a standard OLED panel that has a low-power display on top of it so you can see the time constantly.
The experience on the TicWatch Pro 3 supports the Snapdragon 4100 chip, which means the device is currently running Wear OS 2, but it will be eligible for Wear OS 3 next year. Meanwhile, Wear OS 2 gives the watch access to the Play Store, Google Assistant, and Mobvoi’s chaotic but adequate fitness suite.
TicWatch Pro 3 is one of the only Wear OS smartwatches that we can recommend today. And we urge you not to waste your hard-earned money on anything with a Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor. If it doesn’t turn on This is a listWe advise you not to buy it.
