We use our web browsers a lot throughout the day, whether it’s searching for random song lyrics that we can’t put down or bookmarking recipes or tips to come back to later. Most of us usually use the default Android web browser, which is usually Google Chrome, or Samsung Internet if you have a Samsung device.

But given how easy it is to switch your phone’s default internet browser, you don’t have to deal with a less-than-ideal one. Google Chrome is an excellent web browser, but there are other full-featured or private options like DuckDuckGo, Brave, or Vivaldi.

No matter which web browser you switch to, here’s how to do it.

How to change your phone’s default web browser

It will take just a few minutes to switch the default Internet browser on your phone. It is important to note that before a new web browser appears as an option in your phone settings, you need to download it from the Google Play Store.

Just follow these simple steps and you will be on your way to better surfing.

  1. open the Settings The app on your Android smartphone.

  2. From there, tap on File apps tab.

  3. Now select default apps. If you don’t see this option, you may need to tap on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner to find it.

  4. tap on Browser app.

  5. From here, choose your web browser of choice among the ones you downloaded from the Google Play Store and you’re good to go.

If you have a Samsung phone, the trends are slightly different but still relatively similar.

  1. open the Settings The app on your Samsung smartphone.

  2. From there, tap on File apps tab and then select Choose default apps.

  3. tap on Browser app.

  4. From here, choose the web browser you downloaded from the Google Play Store, and you’re done.
